Mark Collins was appointed as a member of the AIIB Board of Directors on July 1, 2024, having served as an Alternate Director since 2021.
He has almost 20 years of experience working on international and public policy. He is currently a senior official at HM Treasury, the economic and finance ministry of the United Kingdom (UK), where he has served in various roles. Among these roles were as a deputy director with responsibilities relating to the UK’s economic and financial relationship with large emerging markets and the UK’s shareholding and engagement with AIIB and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). He also worked on economic growth, health spending, and European Union finances. He led the team responsible for the UK’s engagement with shareholding and contributions to the World Bank Group in the UK’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office. In addition, he served as the UK G7 and G20 Sherpa assistant and a senior policy advisor on foreign and international economic affairs at the UK’s Cabinet Office (the ministry supporting the UK Prime Minister). He also worked as a consultant researcher and co-author with the United Nations Development Programme.
He holds a master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Nottingham.
