Bangladesh: Bangladesh Smart Cities Development Project

DESCRIPTION

The proposed Bangladesh Smart Cities Development Project aims to provide sustainable urban infrastructure and services in participating cities along the national economic corridors. The Project will support urban services improvement, institutional strengthening and e-governance and project management.

The purpose of this Project Preparation Special Fund (PPSF) grant is to conduct preparatory activities to help prioritize investments and finalize important design features as well as ensure readiness of the Project for implementation, in compliance with AIIB’s relevant policies and requirements.

Preparatory activities supported by the PPSF grant include, but are not limited to, (i) feasibility studies; (ii) environment and social assessments and instruments; (iii) procurement advisory; (iv) detailed engineering designs including tender documents; and (v) assessment of institutional and financial management capacity of the executing agency and project implementation units. PPSF activities will be implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department of Bangladesh.
