Abdulmuhsen S. ALKHALAF (Saudi Arabia)

Mr. Abdulmuhsen Alkhalaf has been a member of the Board of Directors since September, 2022. He is the Assistant Minister for Macro Fiscal Policies & International Relations, Ministry of Finance of Saudi Arabia and the Saudi Sherpa for the G20. In this capacity, he advances the government's transformation under Vision 2030 and strengthens Saudi Arabia’s position in the global economy. He oversees Saudi Arabia's memberships in international financial institutions, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank Group (WBG), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), and Arab Monetary Fund (AMF).

As a member of the Board of Directors at the WBG representing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, he oversaw WBG's operations and management and performed his fiduciary duties while advancing Saudi Arabia’s representation. He also chaired the Audit Committee from 2020 to 2022. He also served as Alternate Executive Director from 2018 to 2020, and as an Advisor to the Saudi Executive Director from 2014 to 2018.

During the Saudi G20 Presidency in 2020, Mr. Alkhalaf served as the Chief Policy Officer of the Finance Track program. In this capacity, he led the Finance Track agenda and work program, overseeing relevant economic and financial workstreams, including the G20 Framework Working Group, the G20 International Financial Architecture Working Group, the G20 Infrastructure Working Group, the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion, the G20 International Taxation Agenda and the G20 Financial Regulation Agenda. As Chief Policy Officer of the Finance Track Program, he organized and coordinated agenda and policy discussions for the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meetings as well as for the G20 Leaders’ Summit.

Prior to joining the WBG Board, he worked as an Economist in the Ministry of Finance of Saudi Arabia, where he contributed toward several domestic economic and financial policies as well as participated as part of the G20 Saudi delegation, representing Saudi Arabia in the G20 Development Working Group.

Mr. Alkhalaf has a master’s degree in finance from Saint Mary’s University (Canada), a master’s degree in Economics from George Washington University (USA); and a bachelor’s degree in finance from King Saud University (Saudi Arabia).
