Hun Kim serves as the Chief Partnerships Officer. In this role, he leads the development, management, and growth of the Bank’s strategic partnerships; mobilizes resources; fosters collaborative relationships with global stakeholders; and oversees the coordination of the Bank’s Multifunctional Hub Offices. Concurrently, Kim also holds the position of Director General of the Sectors, Themes and Finance Solutions Department. In this role, he drives the Bank’s technical excellence in investment operations and expands operational knowledge across all sectors and themes to support both sovereign and nonsovereign investment operations. The department leads upstream work to build expertise, incubate new initiatives in emerging technologies, provide advisory services for public-private partnerships, and promote growth in other productive sectors. Kim was instrumental in building AIIB’s social infrastructure portfolio from the ground up, joining AIIB in March 2021 to establish the Social Infrastructure Department. He is a seasoned development professional who has built his skills and expertise throughout his long and successful career. Prior to AIIB, he was with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), where he held various leadership positions, the last of which was Director General, South Asia Regional Department. Prior to that, he was ADB’s Country Director of the India Resident Mission. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from the University of Minnesota, USA and an MA and BA in Economics from Yonsei University, Republic of Korea. Kim is from the Republic of Korea.
